____________
The mess we are in, doesn’t need any elaboration. Nor does the fact that begging those who derive maximum power and profit from a system that works to our own detriment, as well as to that of the whole planet, to please change it, hasn’t worked. Evidently, the system runs on our sweat and cells. Instead of complaining and supporting simultaneously, I guess it would make more sense to stop feeding all our energy and intelligence that run it.
Three steps to de-trance, one leap to re-connect. Three to deconstruct, one to recreate.
Three to not to hurt, one to heal.
Without clinging to the degenerate – system or the self - three modules to investigate, dissect, lay bare; give an incisive look to the way we have chosen to live – as honestly, earnestly and fearlessly as possible.
A look, penetrating enough to break this trance, potent enough to blow up the hooks – all that we have ensnared us into.
Ah, the illusion of living; of sustaining on destruction of what sustains!
Three steps to understand how we created and walked into this bubble, one leap to the outside.
In deep respect for the remnants of our “one wild and precious life."
The leap is about withdrawing “all our energy and intelligence” from the system that consumes us - body, mind and soul.
This is about withdrawing from what destroys, redirecting to what sustains.
After the clarity, thus conviction, and thus courage - the leap is about taking practical steps.
Beginning with reconnecting with the innate, primordial self that knows how to live with respect for the land and dignity for the self; beginning with the oldest, the first relationship, the final step is about a fundamental shift in our relationships.
This is about surrendering to the land, not conquering.
Although it does involve design, it’s more about resigning and aligning than designing.
Although it does involve learning from nature, it’s more about bio-integrity than bio-mimicry.
This is not about techniques, not about increasing the yields…
Not about exploitation, even if intelligent; not about control, even if sophisticated.
This is not about domination and assertion of the intelligence of the species - although it does involve growing food, housing, taking care of water and soil… all that involves taking care of oneself.
A 'self', expansive enough to include all co-inhabitants of the land – plant or animal, bird or insect, micro or macro.
A self, light enough to be accepted by the land. Feet, light enough to not leave any prints.
The leap is about responding, having 'listened to the land'.
